June, a member of Farsley Art Club for many years, was asked to do a pre pastel demo on Wednesday evening 12 June 2019 then do a workshop on Saturday 15 June 2019 for club members. Those who came to the evening session were given tips on technique on how to use pastels, and the different kinds of paper one can use. On the Saturday June was on hand to give help and advice to the club members that came to the session, some had never used pastels before but were given encouragement in their use. All who came to both sessions enjoyed the experience.
Below are the paintings of the club members at the end of the Saturday workshop.
Andrew ran a painting workshop for members working in oils. He asked for members to prepare their boards or canvases with a coloured ground beforehand. He suggested that the paintings be alla prima. An under drawing is usually needed. The oil colour is applied directly to the board, usually in one stroke of the brush in the right place so as not to have to go over it again.
Members’ work in progress at the end of the session.
Rob Wareing made a return visit to Farsley Art Club to run a demonstration and workshop.
Sue reported: “A successful day painting. Rob as always a brilliant artist passed on his skills to members of Farsley Art Club. He makes it look so easy. The models were excellent. Everyone had a great day and learned lots of techniques to get the likeness and tones. I am sure we will get better with practice.”
It is 4 years since Joanne Boon Thomas demonstrated Brusho painting at Farsley Art Club just as Brusho was gaining acceptance.
